Underst和ing Your Responsibilities as an Independent Study in Idaho Student

Your responsibilities include the following:

  • Read 和 underst和 the academic honesty policy 和 the disciplinary processes of the institution that is sponsoring the 课程 you are taking. You can find links to that 信息 here.
  • Submit your original work on papers, reports, projects, 和 exams. Do not submit work completed by AI programs, or work you submitted in previous attempts of a similar 课程 without permission from the instructor.
  • Properly cite all materials you borrow from other sources, 包括书籍, 家族, 期刊文章, 报纸, 等. Use the citation style requested by the instructor. When in doubt, ask the instructor.
  • Display academic integrity by not sharing graded 课程work (including exams) with other students.
  • Underst和 the instructor's expectations for each 课程 you take through Independent Study in Idaho. This 信息 can be found on the 课程 syllabus, on assignment instructions, 等. If you're unsure of your instructor's expectations, please contact them.
  • Read 和 underst和 Independent Study in Idaho's 政策.
  • Maintain professionalism in all communications with instructors, Independent Study in Idaho staff, 和 (when applicable) proctors.

Getting Started Checklist

  1. 检查 language, computer, 和 email requirements for taking an 在线 ISI 课程.

  3. Confirm ISI credits apply towards your degree 和 will transfer to your home institution. It is recommended that degree-看到king students meet with their academic advisors to discuss the ISI 课程 before registering.

常见问题

ISI 课程s are open-enrollment, so you can register for an ISI class whenever it works best for you. It can take up to three business days to complete your registration 和 receive a registration confirmation email. Instructions for how to set up accounts 和 log on to your 课程 are included in the registration confirmation email.

Follow these instructions to register:

  1. 选择一个 课程 from 课程.
  2. It is recommended that degree 看到king students obtain written confirmation that credits earned through ISI will be accepted 和 applied to their degrees as expected prior to registration.
  3. 审查 课程费用 和 Refund Schedule.
  4. Register for a class 在线. It can take up to three business days to complete your registration 和 receive a registration confirmation email. Instructions for how to set up accounts 和 log on to your 课程 are included in the registration confirmation email. You do not need to apply for admission to any of the cooperating schools.
  5. Order textbooks 和 other 课程 materials from an 在线 bookseller or from the V和alStore.

Students have 12 months from registration to finish a 课程 和, if needed, one four-month 扩展 may be purchased. ISI 课程s match on-campus counterparts in content 和 st和ards, with a per-credit workload equivalent to on-campus 课程s. Expect a minimum of three months to complete most ISI 课程s.

Students work at their own pace with a weekly assignment submission limit specified on the 课程 Canvas page. Grades are typically received within two weeks, but instructors may take longer based on weekly submission limits. Please allow for additional time during holidays 和 instructor vacations. For those needing to complete 课程s in less than three months, email indepst@joyerianicaragua.com before registering.

Students receive grades for assignments within two weeks after the submission date, but instructors are not required to grade faster than the number of assignment submissions allowed per week (看到 individual 课程 syllabi for details). Additional grading time may be needed during holidays, vacations, or instructor illness.

Some ISI 课程s host their exams on Canvas, while others require in-person proctoring. If a 课程 requires proctoring, you will need to submit a proctor request form. Email the ISI office for proctor 信息. Please note: proctored exams are paper-based 和 are not returned to students.

Student responsibilities for proctored exams:

  • Find a qualified person to proctor exams in an education setting 和 return exams to the ISI office. (Proctor qualifications are listed on proctor request form.)

  • Complete proctor request form 和 submit it at least two weeks before the first exam. Each ISI 课程 needing a proctor requires a separate proctor request form.

  • Schedule time with proctor to complete exams.

  • Pay any proctoring fees.

  • Show government issued ID before taking exam.

  • The instructor submits a final 课程 grade after all assignments 和 exams have been graded.
  • An ISI employee processes the grade card, 和 the student will receive a Course Completion Letter in their V和al email account. This letter contains 信息 on how to request a transcript through the 课程 sponsoring institution (all completed 课程s are recorded on a transcript at the institution that sponsors the 课程).
  • Wait at least three business days after receiving the Course Completion Letter before contacting the transcript office; the Office of the Registrar must record the grade before the 课程 will appear on a transcript.
  • Official transcripts may be purchased from the credit-granting institution credit-granting institution. ISI does not send out transcripts.
  • For contact 信息 和 信息 on which semester a final grade is recorded on the transcript, 看到 Cooperating Institutions 和 locate the Transcripts section.

Instructors are available to answer questions concerning class materials, grading, 等. Contact your instructor as specified in Canvas. It can take three business days to receive a response from an instructor.
